UI = ! UX
Most people tend to understand ui and ux as the same thing which is not. They are totally to different concepts.
UI stands for “user interface design”, UI deals with the visual representation of a service or product. It is essentially the link between the user and a product, in our case, digital products. UI Design combines shapes, typography, layouts and other factors to allow for a fluid and natural interaction between users and digital products.
UX design refers to the term “user experience design”, UX is majorly focused on how to make products very easy to use. If the role of a UI Designer is defining the look and feel of a product, the role of a UX Designer is to determine how it will work. UX Design is the fun part. You get to anticipate the user's needs and respond to them.UX is where most of the problem-solving
The main difference between UI and UX is this:
UX design is all about the overall feel of the experience, while UI design is all about how the product’s interfaces look and function.
It’s important to understand that UX and UI do go hand-in-hand; you can’t have one without the other. However, you don’t need to possess UI design skills to be a UX designer, and vice versa—UX and UI constitute separate roles with separate processes and tasks!
If you imagine a product as the human body, the bones represent the code which gives its structure. The organs represent the UX design: measuring and optimizing against input for supporting life functions. And UI design represents the cosmetics of the body; its presentation, its senses and reactions.
A UI without UX is like a painter slapping paint onto a canvas without thought; while UX without UI is like the frame of a sculpture with no paper mache on it. A great product experience starts with UX followed by UI. Both are essential for the product’s success.”
